The Pinhoti 100 to the Leadville 100

I just noticed I titled a previous post "Reparation" for the Pinhoti 100.  (Spell check add a whole new detention  of errors to typing.)  After correcting the title, I thought maybe I should just leave it.  If there was ever a sport that demanded reparation it is certainly ultrarunning!

The following is my training log for the eight months leading up to Leadville. I have marked long run in bold red numbers like this.  We had a slight mishap at work when molten palladium splashed out of a casting machine onto my right foot causing some pretty bad burns on June 6th.  I did not run again until the 16 and that was only for one hour.  I didn't want to do any damage before the Leadville training camp on June 27 through 29.  The burns were sufficiently healed by the camp and I had no problems.  By the way, anyone planning to run Leadville for the first time should plan on attending the training camp.  You will come away from the camp with the knowledge to finish the run.  Participants run the entire course except the first 13 miles.  That section runs from town out to Turquoise Lake and then around the lake to May Queen Aid Station.  There is no reason to run this section before the race although the section around the lake is really pretty.  The camp is also a lot of fun and you will meet some great people.  Ken Chlouber, founder of the Leadville 100 race, ran the training camp I attended and it was worth the trip get to hang out with him.  If  you read "Born to Run" you will remember him.
